District Wins at Loyd Star

Both teams played well at Loyd Star getting district wins which moves both teams to (10-0 , 2-0 in district play).

 

The Lady Dawgs won 6-0. The first goal came on an assist from Kelsi Barron , her 1st of the season. She found Si'Edriq Middleton open near the top of the box where 'S' drilled home the shot for the 1-0 lead. Just minutes later, she scored again this time with an assist from Jourdan Cummings. 

Krislyn Kent scored a beautiful goal on a header coming off a cross from Harley Mckay making the score 3-0.

Briana Brumfiled,Brooklin Bolin, Kelsi Barron, and Shelby Smith played flawless defense limiting Loyd Star to very few chances in the first half.

The second half scoring began early when Jourdan Cummings got her 2nd assist of the game finding Harley McKay in front of the goal for a 4-0 lead.  Sweeper , Shelby Smith got into the attack off a loose corner kick and finished from 18 yards out for a 5-0 lead. 8th grader , Jaden Long finshed off the night with an unassited goal when she dribbled several defenders before cutting right and finishing to the left window for a 6-0 lead with 10 minutes remaining.

Macy Zisken and Tristan Smith combined in goal for the shutout. 

 

The Dawgs had a similar result winning 8-0. Hoby Mullins netted his 4th hat trick of the season , including a free kick from 26 yards that found the upper right corner.  Kyle McKormick scored the games first goal connecting a nice shot from 22 yards out that found the back of the net. His goal was unassisted as he won a loose ball that had been cleared from the box. Sophomore midfieder Kane Gilliam continued his good play racking up 3 assists. His crosses from the right corner all came in the first half of play finding Hoby Mullins, Zayne Mullins, and Greg Queen. 

The second half began with Loyd Star getting through the FC defense and getting off a good shot, but Freshman GK 'Snoop' Verdin made the diving save. It was Loyd Star's only attempt on the night.  Greg Queen scored his 2nd goal of the night after Senior midfielder ,Johnny Moore sent a hard low cross where Queen put it away.  Junior midfielder, Kemo Verdin scored the last goal of the night, assisted by Kyle McKormick. 

 

The teams will be back in district action Thursday, December 19 when they travel to Co Lin CC to take on Wesson.

JV games begin at 4 and 5 followed by varsity girls at 6 , then varsity boys at 7:30.

Both teams will be looking to be 11-0, and undefeated going into the Christmas break.
