FC Soccer opens season with 3 wins.

    The FC Classic began Saturday hosting McComb girls, McLaurin girls, and the McLaurin boys.

The Lady Dawgs opened the season with a convincing 11-0 victory against McComb.

Freshman forward, Jaden Long scored the early game winner after receiving a thru ball from Noel Parker. 

Long would finish the game with 2 goals and 2 assists. Senior veteren Krislyn Kent scored 3 times and added an assist. Freshman midfielder Cheyeene Higgs scored 2 goals and added an assist while Anna Grace Wilson scored twice. Justice Walker and Kenzie Whithead scored a goal each. Sophomore midfielder Shelby Smith had 2 assists, while Amanda Hill,Emily Strittman, and Morgan Moak had an assist each. Tristan Smith and Macy Zisken combined in goal for the shutout. Defensively, Tye Sutton,Brooklin Bolin,Kelsi Barron, Morgan Moak, Geri Weathersby, and Aryianna Mason did not allow a shot. 

    The Lady Dawgs avenged the only home loss for FC in 3 years after defeating McLaurin by a score of 4-1.

Krislyn Kent continued her outstanding play scoring once and adding 2 assists. Kent scored on a free kick from 20 yards out after a McLaurin 'handball' just outside the box.  Kent added the game winning assist after feeding Jaden Long with a thru ball where Long put it away at the 38th minute. Later , Kent sent a cross finding outside midfielder Justice Walker , who hit a nice shot to the upper right back post.  The Lady Dawgs' first score was a beautiful shot from Shelby Smith after receiving a drop pass from Long. Smith hit it to the upper right corner from just outside the box. McLaurin scored on an awarded 'penalty kick' after sophomore goalkeeper Macy Zisken came out and blocked a shot just before colliding with the McLaurin player.

 

   The boys game got off to a slow start and FC led only 1-0 at half after Senior midfielder, Kemo Verdin scored on a cross from  Junior midfielder Kyle McCormick. Verdin scored 2 more in the second half to notch his first career 'hat trick'.   McCormick added a goal to go with his 2 assists. Junior midfielder, Thomas Slagle had a goal and an assist and Freshman defender Brant Mullins added 2 assists.  Mullins and defenders Bryce Gaglardi,Marcus Durrell, and Dedrick Weathersby only allowed 3 shots on goal, all saved by Sophomore GK Snoop Verdin.
